The Zahedan Science and Technology Park serves as a pivotal hub for the synergy between academia, research, and industry, strategically designed to catalyze the knowledge-based economy in the southeastern region of Iran. The master plan is rooted in contemporary urban planning principles, emphasizing structural cohesion, transparent zoning, and the enhancement of pedestrian-oriented mobility. Located along the strategic Zahedan - Khash axis and adjacent to the University of Sistan and Baluchestan and the University of Medical Sciences, the site acts as an anchor for integrating the education-to-production value chain, thereby fostering profound physical and conceptual connections at a regional scale.
The functional structure of the park follows a multi-layered, comprehensive approach, integrating specialized sectors with supporting infrastructure. The specialized zones feature a diverse cluster of advanced industries, including biotechnology, medicinal plant processing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), electronics, photonics, renewable energy, and industrial minerals. These, combined with specialized workshops and R&D facilities, form a complete innovation ecosystem. This technological core is complemented by service, commercial, cultural, recreational, and athletic zones, creating a flexible and vibrant environment conducive to creative interaction among the innovation ecosystem’s stakeholders.
In terms of spatial organization, the existing watercourse on the site functions beyond its natural role; it is treated as an ecological corridor and a fundamental element in shaping the spatial configuration. By fostering greenery along its perimeter, it enhances landscape quality and contributes significantly to the identity of public realms. Furthermore, the transportation network has been designed with an emphasis on passive defense principles and the optimization of logistical flows. The primary access point from the Hajiabad-e Poogi road, coupled with a secondary entrance in the northwestern sector, ensures safe and efficient permeability across all zones.
Ultimately, the Zahedan Science and Technology Park is envisioned not merely as a technological infrastructure, but as a development driver. By leveraging its proximity to regional landmarks such as the oil depot and major academic institutions, the park strives to consolidate its position as a focal point where scientific capabilities meet industrial demands. Through this dynamic and sustainable framework, the project establishes a clear vision for technological advancement, serving as a landmark milestone in integrating innovation into the economic fabric of the province.
