Shiraz Science and Technology Park, as a driving force for technological development in the south of the country, has been conceived with the aim of creating synergy between centers of knowledge, research, and industry. The site, located on the northwestern heights of Shiraz and adjacent to the Arian township, enjoys a unique position for realizing the triple-helix model thanks to its proximity to major academic hubs (Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Islamic Azad University, and Payame Noor University) and key industrial infrastructures (electronics industries and the international exhibition grounds). This strategic location not only facilitates access to highly skilled human resources and upstream industries, but also, through the establishment of coherent functional linkages, transforms the park into a regional anchor for converting ideas into wealth.
In response to the topography and predominant slope, the overall orientation of the complex has been aligned toward the northwest so as to both follow the natural terrain and enhance the spatial organization of the project. A primary pedestrian axis, defined as the main visual and movement corridor, begins at the entrance gate and, framed by active landscaping, leads to the Innovation Building—the heart of the complex—thereby shaping the vibrant social core of the park.
In terms of accessibility, Shiraz Science and Technology Park occupies an outstanding position within the regional transport network. Its adjacency to Shahid Hassabi Highway, direct access to the ring road (Mahallati Expressway) and the Isfahan–Shiraz freeway, together with connections to the urban rail network and the main railway station, facilitates the use of public transportation and logistical flows for companies and visitors, and ensures high permeability of the site.
The functional structure of Fars Science and Technology Park has been designed to create a comprehensive and flexible innovation ecosystem, based on the meaningful co-location of specialized and supporting zones. Through this structural synergy, administrative and research functions (including the incubator center, headquarters buildings, and plots allocated to knowledge-based companies) are integrated with operational workshop clusters and specialized laboratories, thereby forming a complete chain from idea generation to product development.
Complementing these productive spaces, the deployment of service and commercial zones—including a hotel, bank, auditorium, and various recreational facilities—enhances the vitality and sustainability of the environment and, in combination with a unified network of streets and landscaped open spaces, provides a dynamic, 24-hour setting for creative interaction among the actors of this innovation ecosystem.
Ultimately, Shiraz Science and Technology Park is recognized not only as a physical infrastructure for hosting technology-oriented firms, but also as a catalytic hub for regional economic development. By capitalizing on its strategic location, intelligent spatial organization, and diversified supporting land uses, the project provides a resilient platform for the convergence of science and wealth. With its clear vision for innovation, the park is poised to serve as a turning point in strengthening the role of technology within the provincial economic structure and to secure an enabling environment for the growth of the next generation of innovators in Fars.
